Don Bosco 'B', Matunga were shown the door as Holy Family, Andheri knocked them out 2-0 in the semi-final of Mumbai Schools Sports Association's Boys under-16 Division III inter-school football tournament played at Azad Maidan. Meanwhile, St Xavier's, Borivli triumphed 2-0 over St Paul's, Dadar in a closely contested game to book themselves a spot in the final.
Tausheen Shaikh and Mayur Shirke were on target for the Borivli side. Their custodian, Vaibhav Pawar had a decent game, but it wasn't the game he was worried about. Instead, the lad was sweating over missing his tuition classes as he had been warned by the coaching staff of the consequences. He had already neglected his weekly exams a couple of times as he was busy representing his school in football tournaments.
"I have missed two of my weekly exams and today I missed my test which was due at start at 4:30 pm," said Pawar.
Don Bosco 'B' were beaten comprehensively by Holy Family who returned to Division II after they booked themselves a place in the final against St Xavier's. Deviprasad Poojari and Kenneth Fernandes were on target for Holy Family.
Holy Family coach Denis Coutinho was delighted with his side's return to Division II. Competing in a lower division was not satisfying.
"We got a respectable squad and it wasn't a great feeling to be in Division III. We got demoted last year and now we are back where we belong. I'm really excited," concluded Coutinho.
