Both teams find themselves in the bottom half of the points table with Kolkata at eight points from just four wins in 12 games. Meanwhile, Pune are last with four points, having lost 10 out of 12 matches.

It will be a good chance for KKR, whose chances of qualifying for the play-offs are slim to revive their campaign against Pune. But it wouldn’t be an easy ask for KKR, after enduring a 65-run loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians.

Skipper Gautam Gambhir’s poor run with the bat continues even as Jacques Kallis (243 runs) hasn’t been consistent. Big-hitting Eoin Morgan has been the main batsman in the middle-order with 283 runs. Kolkata have been dependent on spinner Sunil Narine (16 wickets) to get them the breakthroughs.

Similarly, Pune’s woes continue after they suffered their seventh straight loss against Rajasthan Royals in their previous game. Aaron Finch’s side has been inconsistent in all departments of the game.
