A brand new surface was used during yesterday's Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier Two here at MA Chidambaram Stadium. A Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official confirmed this to MiD DAY. "Yes, a brand new surface was used and as you saw, it was a much better batting surface.
"The wicket for the final will most likely be the same one that has been used for Chennai's home games. But that will be up to the curator and his team," said the official.
Sporting wicket
"We cannot disclose at this stage as to which surface will be used. There will be an effort made to negate any sort of home advantage. It will be a sporting wicket," added the official. It appeared Mumbai Indians had misread the surface as Bangalore got off to a flying start after being put in to bat.u00a0 The ball sat up nicely for the likes of Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal. There wasn't the usual bounce and turn that R Ashwin and Shadab Jakati had extracted in previous games for CSK.
