Former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar yesterday announced that he would send 15 talented under-19 cricketers from Mumbai for a 15-day training programme to the United Kingdom later this year.
“I have zeroed in on some places around Middlesex in England, where I would send the youngsters from my academy and also some other bright prospects in and around Mumbai for a duration of 15 days. The players of this age need such exposure. I am working out on sponsorship deals so that these kids are there by August,” said Vengsarkar.

Meanwhile, Vengsarkar felicitated former Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Hemant Waingankar, Mumbai Schools Sports Association cricket secretary HS Bhor and MCA’s managing committee member Iqbal Shaikh for their contribution to city cricket over the years. Former first-class cricketer Suresh Tigdi, who was also to be felicitated, couldn’t make it to the function owing to ill health.
