Proteas' domination over the Afghans

The ICC World Cup 2023 match between Afghanistan and South Africa was played at Narendra Modi Stadium. Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first in the game.

Afghan openers started the innings in a decent way, but after their dismissals, no other batsmen were able to score huge runs. They even lost the early wicket of their skipper Shahidi. Despite the fall of wickets, Azmatullah Omarzai stood strong in the middle and scored 97 runs. His knock helped Afghanistan to set a target of 244 runs for South Africa to chase down.

Proteas' opener Quinton de Kock smashed 41 runs and accompanying him was skipped Temba Bavuma who lost his wicket for 23 runs. After their dismissals, Rassie van der Dussen played an unbeaten knock of 76 runs laced by 6 fours and 1 six. South Africa successfully chased the target and won the match by five wickets.
