IND vs WI 1st T20I Highlights: West Indies won the first T20I match by 4 runs. 


After clinching the Test series 2-0 and the ODI series 2-0, India will look to complete a hat-trick of series wins in the five match T20I series against West Indies as they begin their campaign on 3rd August at Brian Lara Cricket Academy. 


Less than 48 hours after their ODI series triumph, India will switch to T20 mode, again as overwhelming favourites against WI. It will provide an ideal platform for the youngsters to express themselves.

Led by dynamic all-rounder Hardik Pandya, India will look to give opportunities to hungry guys such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma and Mukesh Kumar in these five matches.

India's chances of winning slimming with every ball. Axar Patel OUT on the first ball. Arshdeep Singh walks in next. West Indies bowlers got the assignment right as they didn't let Indian batters feel comfortable at any point. The last over is extremely crucial and the result can go either way.

India complete 100 runs in the 15th over. Jason Holder in the attack in 16th over. OUT! Holder strikes again, dismissing Hardik Pandya -- his 2nd wicket of the innings. West Indies have taken a crucial wicket at this point of the game. All-rounder Axar Patel walks in next. Another wicket! Holder bowls to Axar Patel. He runs for a single. Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson building a slow and steady partnership. However, India will have to speed up their game and improve the run rate from current 7.05 to 8.65. They need 52 runs off 36 balls.

Romario Shepherd on attack. Tilak Varma strikes a FOUR on 4th ball. OUT! Tilak Varma caught by Shimron Hetmyer. Pressure is building on India as star performer departs. West Indies displaying an impressive effort with the ball. Sanju Samson walks in next.

Tilak Varma is on a roll, adding generously to India's score with boundaries. Jason Holder bowls the 10th over. Single on the first ball. OUT! Suryakumar Yadav (21) walks back after being caught by Shimron Hetmyer. West Indies ensure that they are back in the game as India's top T20I batter is dismissed. Skipper Hardik Pandya walks in next. 4 runs off the over. India are at 70 runs. They need 80 runs to win in 10 overs which is an easy target provided Tilak and Hardik manage to build a strong partnership.

Debutant Tilak Varma makes the opportunity count. He hits two SIXES and one FOUR in the 6th over. Jason Holder bowls a tight 7th over conceding just 5 runs.

10:25 PM: IND 28/2 in 5 overs

SKY brings much-needed relief for India as he smashes a FOUR and a SIX in the 4th over. Obed McCoy bowls the fifth over. Ishan Kishan hits his first boundary. Kishan gets caught out on the next ball by Rovman Powell in search of another boundary. Tilak Varma walks in next.

Akeil Hosein back again. OUT! Shubman Gill stumped by Johnson Charles on the second ball of the over for just 3 runs. Suryakumar Yadav walks in next. He returns to his T20 zone as he strikes a FOUR. 5 runs off the over. India are in a tight spot and will have to improve their run rate early in the game.

10:08 PM: IND 5/0 in 2 overs

India off to a slow start. West Indies keeping a check on Indian batters from the beginning. Both Gill and Kishan seem to be struggling as they score only 3 and 2 runs in the 1st and 2nd overs respectively.

10:00 PM: Run chase begins

Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan open for India while Akeal Hosein bowls the first over.

9:50 PM: India need 150 runs to win

Brandon King got West Indies off to a strong start but Yuzvendra Chahal turned the game dismissing both openers in the same over. After that, Nicholas Pooran and captain Rovman Powell looked set to take WI to a higher total. But Pooran was removed by Hardik Pandya. There were impressive individual performances by WI batters but the team couldn't shine collectively. All in all, a fine effort by Indian bowlers with notable performances by debutants Mukesh Kumar and Tilak Varma in bowling and fielding respectively. India need 150 runs to win -- a target that seems quite achievable for the team.

9:47 PM: WI in 149/6 in 20 overs

Mukesh Kumar bowls the last over of the innings. He targets the middle line with yorkers. West Indies manage 6 singles and a double on a no ball. 9 runs off the over. West Indies finish the innings 1 run short of 150.

9:37 PM: WI 140/6 in 19 overs

Arshdeep Singh does it! He gets his first wicket of the tour , dismissing Shimron Hyetmer on the first ball of the over. Caught by Axar Patel. Romario Shepherd walks in next. West Indies are at 69 with the in-form Nicholas Pooran still on crease. India have managed to keep the run-rate in check with quick wickets. There is still scope for WI to improve their score in the next 10 overs.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav bowls his first over. Kuldeep to Charles, OUT! Kuldeep takes a wicket in his first over while Tilak Varma takes his first international catch. West Indies lose their third man Johnson Charles (3). Rovman Powell is the next man in. Only 4 runs off the over.

8:35 PM: WI 57/2 in 7 overs

Captain Hardik Pandya bowls a tight over as WI manage to score just 3 runs.

8:27 PM: WI 40/2 in 5 overs

Yuzvendra Chahal strikes on his first ball of the tour. Kyle Mayers (1) dismissed (lbw). Chahal strikes again. OUT! Star player Brandon King (28) dismissed as the ball hits him on the pads.
