What does Gerard Pique's retirement from international football mean? It means Spain will be without their 2010 World Cup-winning team member, who is known to stretch every sinew in defence.

It also means Barcelona star Pique, who made the announcement of his international retirement on Saturday, will have more time to spend with his pop singer partner Shakira and their two sons, Milan, five, and Sasha, three.

The Hips Don't Lie singer has often spoken about her intense love for the footballer and even dedicated some of the tracks of her 2017 album, El Dorado to him. The track, Me Enamoré is about how she met and fell in love with Pique.

While recent rumours claimed the couple were having a torrid time, other sources said that they could be getting married soon. Who knows, Pique's international career coming to an end could be a beginning of another commitment. We hope so, because they make such a great couple.
