Bowing to pressure from players,, the US Open will provide a rest day between next year's singles semi-finals and finals with the men's final moving to a Monday, the US Tennis Association said last night.
Organisers also announced a boost of four million dollars in prize money for the 2013 event which is twice the increase made for the 2012 edition of the tournament at Flushing Meadows.u00a0
“I’m pleased that the USTA has modified the US Open schedule to include a day of rest between the semi-finals and final,” said Briton Andy Murray who won his first major title by beating Novak Djokovic in the final here on a Monday.u00a0
