Delhi police has confirmed the incident but refused to divulge the identity of the victims.
At about 12.30 am on Tuesday night, the Uganda coach - who was on the front seat - and two players, were returning from somewhere in a Tata Sumo. "As they entered from gate number 1 - which is a VIP entrance - the boom barrier that had developed a snag, fell on the car. As the driver applied brakes, the Ugandan coach, who was not wearing the seat belt, crashed into the windscreen, shattering it," sources stated.

The fault in the boom barrier had reportedly been 'rectified' by a technician on Tuesday evening.
After the incident, a PCR call was made. Officials said that all three victims have recovered.

"The players had suffered minor injuries. Only the coach was wounded considerably as he was on the front seat and didn't have his seat belt on. But he too is fine now," official sources stated.

Though no official case has been registered, a Delhi police officer, who is deployed at the venue ,said the matter is being probed to establish who was at fault.

'Thanks Delhi'

Delhiites on Wednesday came in for praise from Commonwealth Games Federation chief Mike Fennell for adhering to the sanctity of the exclusive lanes meant for Games traffic.
"I am very satisfied with the special lanes for Games traffic. It is working well. I want to complement and thank the general public of Delhi for their understanding," Fennell told a press conference. To some people, he said, the Games lanes have been a "bit of nuisance" and it meant disruption of traffic for them.
"But people understood the importance of the Games and related traffic. I want to thank the driving public and pedestrian public for the success of the Games," Fennell said.
Delhi Traffic Police has so far challaned over 1,200 people for deliberately straying into the lanes. Violators had to shell out Rs. 2,000 as fine.
