Maharashtra crime: A woman out for a morning walk and her son were allegedly beaten up with a cricket bat by a couple in Maharashtra's Latur city, police said on Saturday, reported the PTI.
Based on a complaint, the police have registered a case against the couple Gopal and Sapna Darak for the incident that occurred in the Shrinivas Nagar area on Friday morning, an official said, as per the PTI.
According to the news agency, the victim, Sangeeta Rajkumar Bhosle, 53, a resident of Manti Nagar, was out on a morning walk when the accused intercepted her and attacked her with a cricket bat, he said.
The woman's son who was walking some distance away attempted to intervene and was also beaten up by the couple, the official said.

The attack lasted for half an hour and the woman sustained serious injuries, he said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
Meanwhile, in an another incident in Nagpur, a 23-year-old man was killed and a woman and her daughter were seriously reportedly injured after a rashly-driven SUV hit their scooters in Nagpur district of Maharashtra, the police said on Saturday, reported the PTI.
The deceased was identified as Gaurav Raut (23), resident of Dattatraya Nagar area, as per the PTI.
According to the PTI, the accident took place in front of the Laxminarayan temple near Sakkardara Lake on Friday night, said an official.
Varsha Kharabe (48) and her daughter Divyanshi (22), both residents of Mhalgi Nagar, were injured and rushed to a private hospital, the PTI reported on Saturday.
Kharabe and her daughter were returning home after Diwali shopping with the elder woman riding pillion when the SUV coming from the opposite direction hit them around 10.30 pm, the police official said, according to the PTI.
The SUV then hit Raut, who was riding his scooter behind the mother-daughter duo, killing him on the spot.
The SUV then ran into an electric pole and overturned. Its driver fled from the spot, the police official said.
Sakkardara Police registered a case under IPC section 304(A) (causing death by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) and further probe is on, he added.
