One patient, Govind Lal, shared that Rahul Gandhi inquired about his stay at AIIMS and the treatment of his daughters. Another patient, Pawan Kumar, spoke about his 13-year-old daughter's struggle with blood cancer and the lack of proper treatment since December 3.
Asha Devi, the mother of the girl, mentioned that Rahul Gandhi promised financial assistance for her daughter's treatment. The Congress party, through a post on X, highlighted the severe issues at AIIMS, including patients forced to sleep on footpaths and in subways due to lack of space.
Rahul Gandhi slammed the government for the "insensitivity" shown towards patients and families outside AIIMS. He accused both the Centre and the Delhi government of failing to fulfil their duty towards the public, particularly those in need of medical care.
Gandhi visited areas around AIIMS where patients from distant places were camping out in the cold, struggling to access treatment. The Congress leader expressed sympathy for the patients, stating that they were enduring hardship due to the cold, hunger, and lack of proper facilities.

Gandhi's visit followed his earlier remarks about the government’s inability to provide adequate healthcare services. The event highlighted the broader issues within India's healthcare system, with families of patients facing neglect and severe discomfort while waiting for treatment.
