None of last Friday's releases have managed to register any audience interest over the weekend. If known faces like Mithun Chakraborthy and Ranjeeta couldn't generate any curiosity for Zindagi Tere Naam, one couldn't expect any better from Akkad Bakkad Bam Be Bo and Love Possible.

No show: A still from Zindagi Tere Naam

As for Chauraahen, it was released only in one multiplex chain. On the other hand, the previous week's releases like Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani continued to register decent numbers at the box office in their third and second weekend too.

Veteran trade analyst attributes the success of Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani to good content and consequent word of mouth. "No worthwhile release on last Friday too has helped the two films. Vidya Balan's film earned Rs 10-11 crore in the second weekend, while Tigmanshu Dhulia's biopic with Irrfan netted about Rs 2.5 crore its third weekend, which is not bad," he says.

Delhi-based distributor Sanjay Ghai is enthusiastic about the numbers the two films have registered till Sunday. "After the first weekend reports, I was sure both the films would hold well in the subsequent weekends too," he states.

However, Sunday evening did see a drop in the collections of Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani, says Indore-based distributor Aditya Choksey. "Otherwise, they maintained 40-45 per cent occupancy," he asserted.

The new Hollywood import, This Means War didn't fare well either. As Girish Wankhede of a national multiplex chain said, "There was no curiosity for this film starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.

The weekend continued to be dominated by Kahaani, which was promoted well and backed by very strong word of mouth on social networking sites. Paan Singh too saw decent occupancy, about 35 per cent."
Now, all eyes are on the upcoming Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor spy thriller releasing this week.
