Kanav's parents celebrate 37th anniversary with 'beti' Ameesha

Last week, Ameesha Patel's beau Kanav Puri's parents, Tarun and Angeli Puri, dropped in to celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary with the actress as both their children, son Kanav and daughter Ratika, were away in London.

Says a source close to Ameesha, "Kanav and Ratika live in London so the parents travelled to Mumbai to celebrate their anniversary with Ameesha. They told her that she was their only child in India and they wanted to spend that day with her. It was a short visit but they stayed at her home.

Party time

While in the city, they visited Haji Ali and Siddhivinayak. The actress even took themu00a0 shopping and for lunches at Olive and Royal China as that's Kanav's favourite restaurant in London too.

But the best part of the two-day holiday was the impromptu anniversary party Ameesha threw Kanav's parents at a surburban restaurant last Saturday. Apart from a huge Ferro Rocher chocolate cake with sparklers there were pizzas, chirizo and parma ham, pastas and risotto on the menu. In the evening, she popped open a bottle of champagne at home and decorated her home with candles and balloons which said 'Happy Anniversary to Tarun and Angeli.'

Apparently, Ameesha has already been accepted as family. On New Year's this year she was given a heavy antique, heirloom jewelry set which has been in the family for more than a 100 years. A source says, "It's a family tradition to give this heirloom to every daughter from generation to generation.

Ameesha was so touched by the gift that she had tears in her eyes." Ameesha says, "Though Kanav's parents wanted a low key affair, I got my way and conned them into a bigger celebration. Kanav always teases me that he's their adopted child while I am like their own.

They are like my own parents I can cry, laugh and share all kinds of girlie thingsu00a0 while with his dad I love going to museums and cultural places. It's loving and wonderful people like them who make me feel that life is worth living. I couldn't be happier."
