On an Aussie trip

Model Dipannita Sharma ended 2009 with a memorable trip to the Gold Coast and Melbourne in November. This pretty lady soaked in the Australian summer, indulged in outdoor activities as well as sightseeing and shopped non-stop. She shares her excitement of spotting the koala bears and kangaroos with CS:

Scenic wonder
The beaches in Australia are to die for. Clear skies, pristine blue water and golden sand, the Gold Coast is breathtakingly beautiful, almost like a mini Miami. In Melbourne, I was staying right across the St Kilda beach and the sight of the setting sun there is one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen. The place has a casual yet traditional vibe to it, which is very unique. Also, everything is very well maintained and organised.

The blueness of the sea in the morning light is something else. It was also fun to see everyone rush to the beach the minute the sun was out.u00a0

The weather in the Gold Coast belt was equable and pleasant. But it got chilly when it was too windy.

Solo traveller
I did most of the touristy things on my own, with some guidance from a friend. As I was shooting on the Gold Coast, I couldn't do much apart from visiting the beach. But I saw koala bears, kangaroos and white tigers at the theme park.

In Melbourne, I visited the museum that treasured Australian history. Then I visited the Melbourne aquarium, which is one of the largest in the world with penguins and sharks. The penguin feed show is one of most fascinating. I also visited Victoria market, which is supposedly one of the oldest and largest markets for home made goodies!

Yummy for the tummy
I like trying different cuisines and so I tried Malaysian, Italian, Thai, Mexican and other types of food. The desserts were to die for. The Acland Street is a paradise for cakes and pastry lovers! Never before have I seen so many different kinds of cakes and pastries. The cafu00e9 latte is also not to be missed; it's served to you in a glass, just like cutting chai! At night, my friend and I went to several eateries cum pubs which had live bands playing awesome music.

We enjoyed alfresco dining, listening to some lovely jazz music. The crowd really goes wild on weekends and indulges in some unbelievable things bang in the middle of the road. I also took paddle boating classes out there!
