On Saturday, Deepika Padukone winged her way to her hometown Bengaluru in a private jet. She was stopped at the gate of the Kalina terminal by the CISF personnel. The actor was asked to remove her face mask for identification, which Dippy readily obeyed (inset). Most stars breeze into the private terminal. The paparazzi filmed the incident and as the video did the rounds, fans were impressed and praised her for being “well-behaved.” Whether Dippy’s visit was to catch up with family or for a meeting of her upcoming film, helmed by South director Nag Ashwin, is not known. As she jetted back to Mumbai on the same day, and in the same outfit, there was speculation about what prompted the quick dash to the Garden City.

On Sunday, Rana Daggubati and Miheeka Bajaj celebrated their first wedding anniversary. The doting wife shared a snapshot in which they are seen twinning in dreamy white outfits, and wrote, “It’s been the most blissful year. I love you to the ends of the world and more. Thank you for being you and the most wonderful human being. Here’s to a lifetime more.” The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Hyderabad in the presence of family members, and Daggubati’s bestie, Ram Charan.

Anushka Ranjan, sister Akansha and mother Anu hosted a bash at their Versova home, which was attended by Anushka’s actor beau Aditya Seal, Vaani Kapoor, producer Shabinaa Khan, entrepreneur Pavitra Gandhi, Sussanne Khan and rumoured actor beau Arslan Goni. Besties Vaani and Anushka, who are also neighbours, were inseparable, while Sussanne and Goni made sure they posed for photographs seated at extreme ends.

After the Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Aiyaary (2018), Juuhi Babbar Sonii is back on the Bollywood scene with Hansal Mehta’s Faraaz. The film, based on the 2016 Dhaka terror attack, is the launchpad of Kunal Kapoor’s son Zahan. Babbar has an old connection with Kunal and his sister Sanjana Kapoor, names synoymous with Prithvi Theatre, due to mother Nadira Zaheer Babbar’s stage troupe, Ekjute. Juhii will also be seen in an upcoming web series, details about which are under wraps. She has been conducting theatre workshops for kids and aspiring actors for years, looks like she wants to balance it with acting now.

Nimrat Kaur has finished shooting for the social comedy, Dasvi, and says the journey, which began 10 months ago, has finally come to its “joyous culmination.’’ The Lunchbox (2013) and Airlift (2016) actor referred to her character Bimla Devi as one of her “most cherished roles.” Tushar Jalota’s directorial venture, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam, deals with the importance of education.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut provided another glimpse of her character, Agni, in the spy thriller, Dhaakad. “As the shoot is about to come to an end, she will live in me beyond the film. She will rise in spite of herself and her inner demons,” wrote  Ranaut, who is shooting for Razneesh Ghai’s directorial venture in Budapest. She described Agni as the “most vicious of them all.”

Farah Khan bumped into Mumtaz and her sister Mallika Randhawa, and Reena Roy at a restaurant. The choreographer-filmmaker could not contain her joy after meeting her “favourite ladies.” Khan made Mallika’s actor son Shaad, who runs a Middle Eastern fine dine restaurant chain, leave his lunch to click a photograph with the trio. “I have known Mallika aunty since my childhood. My father and her husband Randhawa [Dara Singh’s brother] were buddies,” Khan informs.

Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin actors Yash Pandit and Yamini Malhotra, who play Pulkit and Shivani, do not share screen space in the romantic drama. The buddies have started making funny and entertaining Instagram reels so that they can be seen together. The two enact iconic scenes from films, including playing Anjali (Kajol) and Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).

Manish Wadhwa, who plays a double role in the fantasy drama, Hero: Gayab Mode On, makes his web debut with the historical, Chhatrasal. “The OTT boom is here to stay. Makers and actors, especially from TV, can experiment and do the kind of work they want to,” says Wadhwa, who was also seen in Padmaavat (2018) and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019).
