Merry Christmas is one of the most anticipated movies in Bollywood at the moment. The movie features two massive talents: Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. Katrina Kaif has made a name for herself in Bollywood, while Vijay Sethupathi dominates South Cinema. The actor made his foray into Bollywood earlier this year with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which was directed by director Atlee. Now, he's ready to conquer the box office with another hit, 'Merry Christmas'.

In an interview with Indian Express, Vijay talks about how he is constantly praised for his relatable and 'normal' appearance as compared to other superstars. The actor confessed that the love he has been receiving for his casual look acts almost like an 'energy drink' for him, but he also talked about the time he was 'body-shamed' for it. The actor revealed that in reality, he's very conscious of what he's wearing.


Vijay Sethupathi talks about being body-shamed, saying, "Main aisa hi tha, body shaming bohot kiya tha mujhe (I have faced a lot of body-shaming for the way I look). Wahaan bhi kiya tha (they also did it). It happened, but the good thing is that people accept you the way who you are. Today wherever I go, I am accepted, it is a blessing. (It’s all) thanks to my audience that I am happy being myself. I didn’t expect this, I didn’t…”

About Merry Christmas

Talking about how he has been working on building up his portfolio in Bollywood. The actor shared that he's being recognised more after Jawan, and it's 'proof' that he is moving in the 'right direction'. He shared, "I believe fans are fans and their love is so true. Receiving love from fans is like an energy drink. When people love you, it gives you hope that your work has reached people and they have understood and they really like your work. That’s what I understood from the fan clubs. That always gives me energy.”

The Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi starrer is filmed in both Hindi and Tamil. The Hindi version additionally boasts talents like Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version has stalwarts like Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kavin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams. Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar have special cameos in both versions.
