Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to social media to pen a tribute to DMX. The American rapper passed away after a cardiac arrest. He was 50. Known for his signature growls and hip hop hits, PeeCee wrote that he was one of her “favourite artistes growing up.” She also remembered working with him and called it a “dream come true.” In 2015, the two had teamed up for Meltdown. “It is a big loss to the music industry,” she added.

The Grammy-nominated performer died after suffering “catastrophic cardiac arrest,” according to the hospital in White Plains, New York, where he died. He was rushed there from his home on April 2.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had struggled with drug addiction since his teenage years. His lawyer, Murray Richman, had earlier said he could not confirm reports that DMX overdosed. In 2017, DMX checked himself in at a treatment centre in Southern California. "The decision was voluntary. He was encouraged to do so by manager Pat Gallo and ex-wife Tashera Simmons," said the sources.

The 46-year-old cancelled three shows earlier that week due to a medical emergency, according to his representative. He was supposed to perform in Santa Ana, Los Angeles and San Diego.

Coming to Priyanka, the actress recently said that she takes the current health crisis "very, very seriously". During the interview, the 38-year-old actor spoke about her experience of working during the lockdown in London and how she was worried for her loved ones during this tumultuous time. As for the uncertainty that still comes with shooting film and television projects, even with strict protocols put in place, Priyanka described it as "kind of a crazy experience."

"As actors, we're still taking off our masks in front of other actors, you know, and that's part of the job. And I feel like, that's kind of really daunting," said the actor who had already completed shooting for two movies.

"My husband is a type one diabetic, I'm asthmatic. I have my Mum who's living with me right now so, I just feel like I'm also, on the job, you know, responsible for a set of hundreds of people. So I take it very, very seriously," she added.
