It seems the trend of reality shows on Indian television is here to stay. As new seasons of India's three popular reality shows 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', 'Indian Idol' and 'Dance India Dance' kickstart today on the respective channels, we take a look at seven reality shows to keep an eye on this season
'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa': The battle ground is set for 12 celebrities to take up the dance challenge of the season. As they prepare to shed blood, sweat, tears and prove their prowess to the Trinity of Jhalak –Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Karan Johar and Remo D’souza, viewers can look forward to dust off their dancing shoes and get inspired. The season promises to up the entertainment quotient with performances using unconventional props, graphics and animation added with internationally acclaimed video mapping technology. The season also introduces innovative concepts from relay dance to performing with live DJ music to shaking a leg with an extra partner in 'Teen Ka Tadka'.

Kick starting the launch episode will be Madhuri Dixit who will team up with Bollywood sensation Ranbir Kapoor for a stunning performance on their new item number 'Ghagra from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'. Next to enthrall viewers will be an entertaining performance by Sushant Singh Rajput and actress Jacqueline Fernandez who will be introducing the 12 celebrity contestants. Dance maestro Remo will also take over the stage for a power packed performance with his troupe and something not to miss will be director Karan Johar’s entertaining act. The launch episode week will also see the three Deols - Sunny, Bobby and Dharmendra from 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2' shake a leg with the 'Jhalak...' contestants.
'Indian Idol Junior': For the first time, the singing reality show 'Indian Idol' has launched 'Indian Idol Junior', featuring children aged between five and fifteen.
Hosted by Karan Wahi and Mandira Bedi, singer Shreya Ghoshal and music director-duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani make up the judging panel.
'Dance India Dance Super Moms': After catering to the young adults with 'Dance India Dance' and kids with 'DID Li’l Masters', the dance reality platform now opens its arms to all mothers in its new avatar 'DID Super Moms'. The show wishes to give an opportunity to all mothers, young and old across the country to shed their inhibitions and show their dancing skills.
Farah Khan and Marzi Pestonji will don the judges' hats and assess the moms on their dance quotient. Like the other versions, this version of the reality show, too, will have grand master Mithun Chakraborty.
'Connected Hum Tum': Six courageous women of different ages and at different stages in their lives have dared to bare it all - their hopes, their worst fears, their insecurities, their mistakes, their triumphs, their joys and sorrow – on national television for the world to see! And what has emerged is a vibrant picture of what being a woman in the year 2013 is all about – a fresh, first-of-its-kind reality series called 'Connected Hum Tum' that begins on June 3. Lending a male perspective on all the exciting developments in these six women’s lives will be the celebrity host of the show, Abhay Deol.
"We deal with women in such a wide range of roles, be it our own mothers, wives, girlfriends, sisters, colleagues at work. They colour the very fabric of our everyday existence. Yet, women are such a maze that we, as men, can never really completely understand. 'Connected Hum Tum' is an attempt to demystify women and thereby understand relationships better. As the host of the show, I intend to leave the audience with how I perceive the women through my lens! I will raise questions that will make them think," says Abhay Deol.
'Kaun Banega Crorepati 7': Amitabh Bachchan is back with the latest season of the reality game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The registrations for participation have already begun on May 27 and the game show will tentatively commence after the crowning of the first 'Indian Idol Junior'.
'Junior MasterChef India': The smash hit series of MasterChef is ready to uncover the best and brightest young cooks ready to strut their culinary journey in the MasterChef junior kitchen. Kids between the age of eight and twelve will participate in the show and exhibit their culinary skills to claim the title.
The auditions for the show begin today and the show will tentatively go on air after the 'MasterChef India' season 2 grand finale.
'The Bachelorette India-Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika': "Yes, I’m single. But I’m looking for someone who can sweep me off my feet to change that," quips Mallika Sherawat who is a part of this a gripping reality series. The series will trace Mallika's journey to find her prince charming with this globally acclaimed show with Indian twists to captivate the viewers.
Talking about her dream boy, Mallika says, "I’m looking for someone who is self-made, well educated, grounded and above all someone who can be a friend and not just a lover. I prefer men who take risks in life and especially the ones who are not afraid to speak their mind.
