Mahesh Bhatt on Indian Idol 14

Mahesh Bhatt graced the stage of the singing reality show 'Indian Idol 14'. He remembered the legendary singer Kishore Kumar, expressing how Kishore da would always have the best time in the studio. 


Kishore Kumar will always be remembered as a legend who transformed the music space in India forever. He is best known for his songs, 'Chala Jata Hoon', 'O Mere Dil Ke Chain' Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka’, ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baraat Nikli Hai’, among numerous other tracks. This weekend, 'Indian Idol 14' hosted Mukesh Bhatt, in the episode titled ‘Director Mahesh Bhatt's Challenge’. Mahesh Bhatt, who completed 49 years in the entertainment industry, made an appearence on the famous show for the first time since its inception. 


Mahesh also challenged the Top 15 contestants to bring out the inner emotion that is packed in every Kishore da song. The prize? a chance to win a vinyl of his 1984 film, 'Saaransh'


In a heartwarming moment that took place on Indian Idol 14, Menuka, a visually impaired contestant, took to the stage to sing a rendition of Kishore Da's legendary song, 'Gali Mein Aaj Chand Nikla'. Menuka's soulful voice unlocked something within Mahesh Bhatt, who instantly seemed moved to tears. The filmmaker's eyes visibly teared up as he took in the melody that was being performed. In the video, Shreya Ghoshal is seen matching pitch with Menuka as she goes on singing. Mahesh even went on stage to give Menuka a hug; he is quoted as saying, 'Tere paas voh dil hain, sabsa zyaada dil hain'

Pooja Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt's eldest daughter took to Instagram to post the video praising the contestant. She captioned it, "It is not art, but HEART, which wins the whole world over!” 

Soon enough, the comment section was filled with emotional comments. "Bhatt sahab bahut hi acche dil ke aadmi hai, hamesha talents ko support karte hai," one fan wrote. 

Another user commented, "Alka Ji’s singing in this song made me want to fall in love! She captured the feeling of longing so beautifully. I don’t think anyone else could’ve sung that song better than her. Pooja ji, your performance in the song was incredible. I only understood what you wanted to convey as an adult. So so beautiful! (sic.)"

"I was prob 20 when I watched zakhm for the first time, quite randomly.And it had such a huge impact that I researched extensively about it. And obviously came to know about bhatt sahab's parents and their love story. It made me cry and smile at the same time.
