Shah Rukh Khan’s charm overtakes the small screen every time he has made an appearance, whether it was for Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2007 or Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? in 2008 or the TED Talks he hosted in 2017 and 2019. But it will be a while before we see him charm TV audiences again. The third instalment of TED Talks India, which was slated to air in 2020, was postponed to this year owing to the pandemic. However, the talk show has now been pushed to 2022.

As per his deal with the Star network, the superstar is committed to one more season of the desi version of the international counterpart, in which speakers present their innovative ideas and success stories in speeches of 18 minutes or less. “As it follows the international format, a team from the US flies down to curate the shoot. Last year, due to the spread of COVID-19 and the travel restrictions, they could not fly down to Mumbai. It was then decided to delay the series, but as there is still an air of uncertainty, hence, it has been put off until 2022,” informs a source from the show, which is conducted by the American organisation TED.

For the previous seasons, which featured Google CEO Sundar Pichai, cricketer Mithali Raj, chef Vikas Khanna, environmental activist Bittu Sahgal, and Bollywood folk Javed Akhtar, and A R Rahman, Chris Anderson, the curator of TED Talks, and Juliet Blake, head of TV at TED had flown down with their team to shoot the show. “Due to the logistics involved, they will not be able to travel in the prevailing scenario,” adds the source. The Star Network remained unavailable for comment.
