Saxophonist Igor Butman and singer Fantine Pritoula will up the beat for you

Jazz lovers in the city are up for a treat. Stars from the musical hall of fame will be performing here. Jazz Addicts, a group that organises mainstream and classical Jazz shows in India, have organised a performance of the legendary saxophone player Igor Butman and award-winning soulful jazz singer and songwriter Fantine Pritoula.

Butman, whom the former US president Bill Clinton called his favourite living saxophonist, is also a television host and a bandleader. Butman is not new to India. The country , for the multi-talented musician is a place fascinates him.

“India has a unique taste in music that is very representative of the people and their preferences. It is quite interesting,” he says. His fans in Mumbai have previously witnessed his performance in 2014 at National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and in 2015 at the Jus’ Jazz concert.

“Each time I have been to India to perform, I have always been graced with a great audience and ambience. Mumbai, in particular, is open to experimental tunes when it comes to Jazz and I really love performing here. The reception of the audience is truly heart warming,” reveals the master saxophonist.

Fantine Maria Pritoula launched into the Australian musical landscape in 2010 with soulful Jazz-inspired single, Super Sweet. In September 2014, her Reservation for Two peaked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs list. She has also collaborated with Australian singer-songwriter Pete Murray, toured with Dave Stewart from Eurythemics. Mandar Sharma, president, Rotary Club, Mumbai, says, “It’s an honour to host such legends in Mumbai, and we look forward to a great evening.”
