The Skoda Kodiaq has made its motor show debut at the ongoing 2016 Paris Motor Show. The Czech automaker’s first-ever, full-size, seven-seater SUV made its world debut in early September in Berlin, Germany. The European sales will commence in February next year, while its Indian debut is likely to happen in the second half of 2017.
In India, the Volkswagen Group’s monocoque platform (MQB) based Skoda Kodiaq will compete mostly with body-on-frame SUVs such as the Ford Endeavour, the upcoming Toyota Fortuner and the Pajero Sport, among others. In terms of features, the Kodiaq will share most of the features with Skoda’s flagship sedan – the Superb – which was launched recently in India. The feature list is likely to be similar in both the flagship products of the Czech automaker.
Speaking of engine options, there are two petrol engines on offer – 1.4-litre and 2.0-litre TSI (both turbocharged) – along with a single diesel engine: 2.0-litre TDI, available in two states of tune. The transmission options include a six-speed manual and six- and seven-speed DSG automatic transmissions. In India, the Kodiaq is likely to come with the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, with just the automatic DSG transmissions.
