Start With the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Center

This visitors’ centre is not technically part of the Giant’s Causeway, but it is still a great place to kickstart your visit. Here, you will find a souvenir shop as well as lots of information about the Giant’s Causeway itself. Do note that you have to pay for parking and entrance at the visitor’s centre

The Red Trail Is Great For First-time Visitor

If you have never visited the Giant’s Causeway before, you might follow everyone else and go down the trail to the Giant’s Causeway itself. However, you can veer off this path into trails that lead to the top of the mountain. The top of the mountain is the best spot to view the Causeway, as well as everything around and within it.

The most popular trail is one that starts at the visitor’s centre. It is not officially marked but is less challenging for those who want a nice stroll of the area.

Go On a Tour

One of the best ways to see Giant’s Causeway in all its glory, learn its history, and discover some hidden gems is to take a Giants Causeway tour from Belfast. Companies that offer guided tours will take you to some of the towns and cities on the itinerary and help you discover the history and heritage of gems like the 12th-century castle on your route. The highlight of the trip is visiting the Giant’s Causeway where you will experience the ocean and get a chance to walk across the rocks and through the Giant’s gate as you walk to the cliffs to get a better view of what the causeway has to offer.

Sit on The Wishing Chair

One of the magical aspects of the Giant’s Causeway surrounds the wishing chair. This is a natural throne that is created by columns that are arranged in such a way as to give enough space for sitting. Although the stone columns used to be rough and uncomfortable to sit on, so many people have sat on the wishing chair that it has become worn and comfortable.

Dress Comfortably

The Giant’s Causeway sits on the Atlantic Ocean. Although this means that you will have a great view of where the ocean meets Northern Ireland, it also means lots of wind and moisture in the air. You are therefore encouraged to take a waterproof jacket if you wish to walk on the stones close to the ocean. Also, the stones can be slippery at places so wear comfortable shoes and avoid heels and sandals.

No trip to Northern Ireland would be complete without a tour of the Giant’s Causeway. The Causeway has lots of trails, hidden gems, and areas to take beautiful photographs. While there, do not forget to visit the visitor’s centre to learn more about the Causeway.
