Monsoons in Rajasthan: an Indulging Vacationland for Tourists

The otherwise sunny skies get covered with dark clouds and a thin breeze swirls in most parts of the state. It is the time when semi arid plains and hills adorn a lush green cover, making the view all the more spectacular. The rains bring to life various seasonal springs and waterfalls of the Aravali hill range that stretches through the state.

Every year the favored season attracts numerous visitors to the state and even though the arrival of foreign tourists remains averted due to the COVID pandemic but visitors from neighboring states are travelling to Rajasthan for a vacation. The hill sites of Udaipur and Rajsamand districts in particular Banswara district is a paragon of breathtaking sites during monsoons, the lakes and natural etches provide for an unrivalled experience for visitors travelling in southern part of Rajasthan.

Nearer to NCR, one of the oldest cities in Rajasthan, Alwer is home to exquisite royal palaces and forts that are true remnants of its rich past. Coupled with a stunning lake in its midst, here are some of the best places to visit in Alwar besides the major attraction Sariska Tiger Reserve. The areas adjoining the forests of Sariska have been pulling enthusiastic visitors who are eager for an escapade from home confinements. The Pandu Pol Temple that is in the vicinity of Sariska tiger reserve is open for tourists and worshippers, with that the endearing Tiger Safari at Sariska along with the breathtaking beauty of its outskirts get much reveled during the monsoon season, whereas most of the tracks in Bala Quilla buffer have also been opened up for exploration.

Similarly, Ranthambore National park  which is partially open for the tourists during the Monsoon is a  different experience altogether. The landscape of the Ranthambore forest which is mostly rough and craggy with low hills and steep outcrops takes on the hues of green as the monsoon restores the forests and vegetation to full bloom, the number of animals that come out to graze and feast on the fresh blooming grass is sight to behold.

With the recede in COVID infections post the second wave there has been an increase in the influx of tourists and with the waiver of the condition of an RTPCR test for visitors who have received at least one dose of the vaccine more tourists are expected.

The scenic locations of Rajasthan are as well attracting tourists as they offer sufficient space that allows visitors to enjoy their visit whilst keeping a due social distance. Each district of the state adorns various attractions that are rich in historic, cultural and ecological wealth. Thus, the visitors not only have multiple options to choose from, it also helps in avoiding overcrowding at the venues. To add to the confidence of tourists, there are several COVID preventive measures that have been instituted by the Dept. of Tourism Rajasthan and also the effective implementation of ‘No Mask No Entry’ campaign has been much supportive to the cause. The fact that at least one dose of vaccine has already been administered to a majority of adult population of the state is a reflection of the state's achievements towards containing the spread of infection.

The monsoon season is a succulent time to drive in to Rajasthan by road as the sightseers can relish the scenic beauty that casts a spell alongside the roads and the interior regions of the state whilst being in their vehicles. Mostly, Rajasthan offers a very safe travel during this season with rare chances of a landslide or flash floods that are otherwise a common thing in the mountainous regions. The monsoon season is a staple time for traditional community gatherings by the local residents of Rajasthan, these gatherings that are known as 'Goth' are often celebrated with the native cuisine ‘Dal Baati Churma’. Thus the season is a palatable time to catch a glimpse into the local traditions and relish the rich food heritage of the state in the amusing weather.
