Three men were arrested for allegedly raping three minor sisters in Maharashtra's Palghar district, a police official said on Monday, reported the PTI.

The victims were reportedly under their alcoholic father's care after their parents' divorce, the Senior Inspector Vankoti of Pelhar police station told PTI.

Speaking to PTI he said, "the three accused, Datta Kshirsagar (35), Nishad Khan (19) and Sayyed (27), took advantage of the distress of the three sisters and raped them repeatedly over the past one year."

Vankoti further added, "The three men were arrested on Sunday for rape and other offences under Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act provisions."

Palghar Rape Case

Earlier in May, the Palghar district rural police in Maharashtra on Monday arrested two suspects for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, the police said, reported the PTI.

According to the PTI, the accused were held from Talasari under section 376 (rape) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, an official said.

Both men are in their mid-20s, the official said.

One of the accused befriended the victim on Instagram, and on April 30, he took her to his house, where he raped her, he said, as per the PTI.

On May 4, the two accused repeatedly raped the girl at different locations, the official said.

The duo had used fake names to identify themselves, but based on intelligence and technical inputs, the police zeroed in on them, he said.

The accused have been remanded to police custody till May 9, and further probe is underway, the official said, the news agency reported.

Man held in UP after 40 years of absconding in kidnapping and rape case

The Mumbai Police arrested a 70-year-old man, who had been absconding in a kidnapping and rape case for the last 40 years, from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, an official said on Tuesday, the PTI reported on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Papa alias Dawood Bandu Khan, he said.

He was brought to Mumbai on a transit remand and will be produced before the court here, he said.

"In 1984, a case of kidnapping and rape was registered against Khan based on a complaint filed by a woman," he said.
Khan had been arrested in the case and was out on bail.

During the investigation, it was revealed that he was somewhere in the northern states, the official said.

All these years, various police teams tried to search him, but he remained untraced, he said.

"However, the police officials recently received specific information that he is staying with his family in Agra. Accordingly, a police team was sent to this Uttar Pradesh city, where Khan was apprehended," the official said.
