Just a month after a gruesome accident where four youths died, Palm Beach Road accounts for another life; this time of a four month-old infant

In a case that raises concerns about authorities not being able to keep a check on speeding vehicles on Navi Mumbai's Palm Beach Road, a car accident on Saturday on the much-famed road lead to the death of a four month-old infant and injuries to his parents.
According to the police, Vikrant Nimkar, an employee of a pharmaceutical company, was driving his Chevrolet car from Vashi to his Khargar house, accompanied by his wife Gauri and his son Ayush. He was reportedly speeding and at around 12.30 pm lost control of his car and collided into a tree. While the infant died on the spot, Vikrant and Gauri were rushed to Vashi's MGM Hospital. When contacted, Nerul police station's sub inspector Atish Wagh said, "Vikrant was driving at high speed and the car collided into a tree alongside the road. This happened at the turning near the Agari-Koli Bhavan (Nerul).
Ayush died on the spot and Gauri suffered injuries to her head." The police have recorded the couple's statements and claim to be conducting further investigations to see if anything else might have caused the accident.
The accident comes just a month after a similar incident a month ago, where four youngsters lost their lives close to the current accident site. On December 11, Rakesh Chavan, Karan Sandhu, Nilesh Bhat, and Sunny Sharma had died when their Honda Accord rammed into a tree.
