On August 2, around 4 pm, one-year-old Waheeda was playing at home when Mohammad Sajjad (23), allegedly kidnapped her.

Shaikh and his wife decided to put their faith in the Mumbai police and registered a complaint at the Wadala TT police station.
Their faith was not misplaced. On August 5, the detective division of Matunga Police Station under Zone 4 DCP Sanjay Baviskar began their investigations.
Said an official, "We traced the ransom call to Hajipur district in Bihar. Our team of plainclothes officers then went to Bihar on August 8.
We observed Sajjad's movements for one day with the help of the local police and then nabbed him near a bank on Tuesday morning."

After he confessed, they rescued the unharmed baby from his house.
When contacted, Shaikh said, "I am really thankful to the police who got my daughter back. We are poor people.
This abduction has troubled us a lot. All I want is my baby to come home." The cops are expected to fly back with the baby today by 5.30 pm.
Sajjad has been charged under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 364 A (kidnapping for ransom) of the Indian Penal Code.
