Daily commuters can look forward to a smoother ride on the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR), courtesy the newly opened down ramp at Kalina. On Friday, MMRDA tweeted that the ramp had opened: “Good news for commuters travelling from Chembur to Mumbai University! The Santacruz Chembur Link Road just got easier to navigate with the opening of a down ramp at Kalina for vehicular traffic.”

The tweet further stated that as a part of the SCLR extension project, a solid approach near Windsor Building on CST road Kalina is now open to vehicular traffic. This approach, known as the Windsor approach or A4 Ramp, spans 142 meters and has a carriageway width of 5.5 meters.

“The main objective of this construction is to alleviate traffic congestion at Kapadia Nagar signal and reduce travel time to the University and Santacruz by 10 to15 minutes,” tweet said, “The SCLR extension project is currently 92% complete, and one of the project’s down ramps is now open for traffic.”

The SCLR has helped dissolve traffic congestion in BKC, CST Road and Hansbhugra road. It has also helped improve connectivity from Eastern to Western Express Highway by reducing travel time by about 45 minutes.
