One person died and another was injured after a house collapsed in Mumbai's Mahim area on Wednesday, said officials from Mumbai Fire Brigade. The MFB, who responded to the call about the incident, said that it happened on June 5 at Samarth Industrial Estate on Dilip Gupte Marg near Bombay Scottish School in Mahim.

The officials said that Mumbai house collapse incident happened around 5.31 pm when the large slab of the first floor of a vacated ground plus one-floor Comteck building collapsed.

The MFB officials added that the collapse happened during debris removal by a private contractor and that one worker was trapped under the slab. The trapped worker was rescued by firemen using rescue tools and was administered first aid before he was taken to Sion Hospital in an ambulance.

"A large slab of the first floor of the ground plus the upper one floored vacated Comteck building had collapsed.  During the removal of debris on the first floor by a private contractor, one worker was trapped under the slab portion," said MFB officials.

"The trapped person was rescued from the debris by firemen using rescue tools, rendered first aid and taken to Sion Hospital in 108 Ambulance. Information received from the public that one injured person was taken to Hinduja Hospital in a private vehicle before the arrival of the fire brigade," the officials added.

Prior to the arrival of the fire brigade, it was reported that another injured person was taken to Hinduja Hospital by private vehicle. According to Dr Swapnil (MO) at Hinduja Hospital, the injured person took a DAMA discharge and was later admitted to Sion Hospital.

At Sion Hospital, an on-duty AMO confirmed that two injured persons were reported. Chandrika Yadav, a 32-year-old male, is in stable condition. Unfortunately, a 35-year-old male, whose identity is unknown, was declared dead on arrival by Dr Mayur Patil.
