A traffic constable in the city immediately stopped vehicular traffic on a major bridge and took an Indian Coast Guard officer to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack, saving his life.

Prashant Roy, a Coast Guard officer travelling with three colleagues, encountered a medical issue on Monday. Roy collapsed while their car was on the Vakola bridge in Santacruz West, reported PTI.

According to the PTI report, after receiving information from Roy's colleagues, on-duty policeman Shrikant Navle of the Vakola traffic division acted promptly. Despite the problems caused by VIP movements that day, Navle cleared the road quickly and accompanied the automobile to the neighbouring civic-run V N Desai Hospital in around five minutes.

Roy collapsed while travelling from Powai to Worli after complaining of acute chest trouble. Navle's prompt response ensured that he received timely medical assistance, ultimately saving his life, the report added.

According to the report, the official added, "It was challenging to clear the road as there were VIP movements that day."

In another incident, two brothers from Bhayandar in Thane district, Maharashtra, were arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening a police sub-inspector (PSI) on Tuesday.

The incident occurred late on May 13 when a man approached the Bhayandar police station with a complaint of assault. The PSI attended to the victim and sent him for medical treatment, stated another report in PTI.

According to the news agency report, upon directing his subordinates to bring the accused to the station, the siblings began verbally abusing the police official. They physically assaulted him by pulling his collar and issued threats of reprisal.

Fellow officers intervened and restrained the brothers, who were then brought into prison. Based on the PSI's complaint, a case has been filed under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including impeding a public official, inflicting harm, criminal intimidation, and malicious insult, the report added.

Meanwhile, another constable, who is posted outside cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's home, ended his life in Jalgaon. The deceased was attached to the State Reserve Police Force, stated an agency report.
