A drunken rickshaw driver gave the slip to the Hadapsar police after hitting a couple on a motorcycle. The incident took place 100 feet from the Hadapsar police station at 11 pm last night. The police arrived at the spot, 25 minutes after the accident. The rickshaw driver had, by the time, escaped with his vehicle (MH-12/DA 821).
M S Modhave, sub-inspector of the Hadapsar police station said she could not do anything to help because the policemen on night duty were busy handling two men accused of assaulting journalist Yogesh Kute.
"It is impossible for me to handle the situation," she said.
