Like all Devdas films, this one too begins when Devender Singh Dhillon returns from London to meet his Paro (Mahi Gill) in Punjab. He's incited to come back, after she acquiesces to send her nude photograph on his request. Dev and Paro's tempestuous, passionate longing for each other culminates with only a quick hug and quickly ruptures as our hero is unable to handle her sexuality giving heed to an inane rumour. He spurns her wild sexual adventurism cycling away to the khet in the wee hours of dawn, with a mattress rolled up on the carrier for a clandestine tryst with her lover. But little does he know that he's calling for his own doom, because the smart Paro doesn't give into his emotional atyachaar, moves on and marries a much older man, Bhuvan, a father of two.

After being spurned by Paro, Dev leaves Punjab for the gallis of Delhi's Daryaganj area, replete with sex, cocaine and booze and takes to drinking, doping and the like. He likes his vodka with thumbs up, ad lib, morning, noon and night, never pausing to take stock of his life, going deeper into dark despair, swiveled by alcohol and drugs. He is completely out of sync when he finds himself hurtling into the arms of Chanda (Kalki Koechlin), a student by day and a hooker by night, who swears by the legendary Chandramukhi. A victim of an MMS scandal in Chandigarh, and scorned by her family, she runs away, taking refuge in pimp Chunni babu, changing her name from Lenny to Chanda. The relationship between Dev and Chanda is laden with disdain, till he believes that he may actually have been given a second chance in love.

Verdict: The story is inspired by the young rich brats, who experiment with drugs, alcohol and sex, ending up making mistakes that completely changes their lives. Kashyap brilliantly handles his take on today's Indian youth. How they constantly struggle with the shackles of growing up in a traditional, conservative society teamed with liberal education and exposure to the Western-ism. A dichotomy which eats into their existence and they are left wondering where do they really belong to.
