Short circuit cited as reason; one person who was trapped inside rescued later
A man had a narrow escape when a major fire broke out at the office of the British High Commission near Qutub Institutional area in south Delhi late on Tuesday night.
Fire brigade official said that the blaze broke because of short circuit in an air conditioner at the office. A man was trapped inside the building when the fire broke out. He was rescued by security guards posted at the office.
"The British High Commission office is situated on the top floor of the DSIDC complex near Rockland hospital. The fire was reported at around midnight. Soon the blaze engulfed the whole office. We sent out five fire tenders to the spot. The situation was brought under control at around 12:30 am," said a fire official.
The officer added that no one was injured in the incident. "Only one person was trapped inside the office but he too was rescued in a short while," the officer said.
