For Oberoi Mall's high-energy shoppers, Hooked on Pasta comes as a desi-fied Italian addition to its eclectically flavoured food court
With one eye on their dials, focused shoppers at Goreagon-East's Oberoi Mall never had it so good, as far as their fuelling needs are concerned.
While its food court may be at a disadvantage over some of their counterparts across the 'burbs and in central Mumbai, with less than adequate seating and a cramped vibe, it more than makes up for it with a competent mix of cuisines, from Rajasthani to Burmese and American fast food.
Spaghetti Pasta with Ice Tea and Multiple Toppings
The address directed us to Hooked on Pasta, tucked in the right-hand corner of the semi-circular food court. As in the case of most food court counters, the mood was rushed and functional.
A plastic laminated menu card displayed an assembly-line of options to either take the la carte route or opt from countless pastas, sauces and toppings, enough to confuse the shopper-in-a-hurry variety.

Those carrying a pizza hangover shouldn't get dissuaded there's a separate section for this tribe as well.
Post a quick scan, we plumbed for the Oven Roasted Chicken with Penne Arabiatta (Rs 145) and an adventurous combination Spaghetti Pasta with Spicy Tomato Sauce (Rs 110) with Jalapenos, Mushroom, Broccoli, BBQ Chicken, Baby Corn and Olives (toppings range from Rs 20 to Rs 30).

With a little egging on from the counter staff, we couldn't but resist the Indian Masala Cheesy Garlic Bread (Rs 100).

Iced Tea (Peach & Lemon, Rs 50 each) nicely rounded off our elaborate indulgence on a sultry September afternoon.
Now, be forewarned if you intend to head towards this food court for a relaxed sit-down, more so in a large group. Come lunch hour and it's a mad scramble to bag an empty table.
While our order was ready in an impressive ten minutes, we had to wait a while to savour our Italian khana.
For starters, we noticed that the portions are sufficient for one hungry shopper only; avoid taking the stingy path when you place orders here.

Also, no knives were in sight to dig into the meats, an unpardonable lapse especially since we had to rely on feeble plastic spoons and forks to do the job. Thankfully, the food kept us engaged.
The Oven Roasted Chicken with Penne Arabiatta was a meal by itself the Penne Arabiatta was well cooked while the chunks of roasted chicken were tender.
Though a wee bit more on the flavouring front would've helped. We suggest you go for it while it's piping hot.

The Spaghetti Pasta dish as expected was an interesting proposition every topping was visible and in sufficient portions. We could actually taste the fresh juices from the olives, mushroom and broccoli.
Not bad. However, the more than overpowering spicy tomato sauce played culprit for the remainder of the ingredients as we found ourselves scurrying for respite to our humongous Ice Tea servings, at regular intervals.u00a0 Not good.

Our desi choice of Garlic Bread was quite nice with red peppers, cheese and onion and generous quantities of cheese.
Hooked on Pasta will please shoppers who lean towards spicy, masala-doused 'Continental' fare. Gourmands can give it a miss.
