If you live in Bandra, and have a song on a LP that reminds you of a special moment, share the memory with a bunch of strangers at Celebrate Bandra's Bring Your Own Music Night

What if we told you, old books and beer make a good combination for a perfect night out? The guys at Bombay Elektrik Projekt and Idea Jugglers Initiative have been trying to convince Mumbaikars about that one at their Beer And Books nights.

And to add an extra edge to their special night planned for the Celebrate Bandra festival, they are now inviting all Bandraiites to be DJs for the evening, and play their favourite LPs all night long. The only catch: You have to tell the crowd what makes that song so memorable, even if it means spilling the beans about your first kiss.

"Our aim is to make the audience feel part of the event. So, you can come and play an LP that doesn't have to fit any genre - Michael Jackson or Mohammad Rafi, that's entirely your call. But you have to share the nostalgia attached to the song," explains Sudeip V Nair, co-founder, Bombay Elektrik Projekt.

Author and Bandra resident Dilip D'Souza, who is going to be playing one of his favourite LPs, says the charm of playing a vinyl is hard to replicate. "I am so reluctant to get rid of my LPs. Nowadays, people download singles off the net. All the charm associated with album art is so passe," rues D'Souza, who will be playing the Joe Ely classic Musta Notta Gotta Lotta.

Along with taking your vinyls along, don't forget to browse through dog-eared copies of books you always wanted to read, but didn't know where to get. "People have donated books that will be sold at modest rates. All proceeds will be donated to charity. It's a great way for someone to get rid of old titles, and others to pick up second-hand books for cheap," says Neale Murray, director, Celebrate Bandra.u00a0

From: 8 pm onwards at Cafe Goa, Agnelo Building, Khadeshwari Mandir Marg, off St John Baptist Road, Bandra (W). Call: 9820919199 / 26404115. To listen, walk in. To register and play, call Sudeip V Nair on 9820998790.
