Police sources say Raju Gehlot and his live-in partner Neetu Solanki had a verbal duel after he threw a piece of sweet at her in a fit of rage. Raju later murdered Neetu

A sensational crime that has been puzzling the police for nearly a month may have been initiated by as trivial an article as a piece of sweet.


Any evidence? Cops breaking into the house rented by Raju and Neetu,
on Wednesday. MiD DAY was at the spot before police arrived.


"Someone had come to give Neetu a parcel. She talked with him for a few minutes and he went away after that. Raju who was sitting inside got jealous over this. He threw a laddoo at Neetu when she came inside. This led a verbal duel between them. The argument heated up and in a fit of rage, Raju killed her," a police source told MiD DAY.

Crime Branch officials believe Raju Gehlot, who allegedly killed his live-in partner Neetu Solanki, software professional and law graduate, might have fled to Haryana.u00a0DCP, Crime, Ashok Chand said that so far raids have been conducted in Haryana and Delhi only. "On Wednesday we conducted raids in Delhi but he was not found. He has a Haryana connection, not UP," said the official.u00a0

He added that around six teams of Crime Branch and railway police have been roped in for the investigations.u00a0
Meanwhile, Naveen Shokeen, cousin of Raju Gehlot, was produced before a city court by Crime Branch officials where he was granted bail. The DCP said that they did not want his police remand as he had already been interrogated by the police. Naveen was arrested yesterday for aiding the accused.

Singular case
Neetu's body was found outside New Delhi railway station on February 11 inside an airbag and had remained unidentified till February 23 when her father approached the police to claim the corpse. Police had received queries from around 70 families, including one from UK, about the body.
