SP College Principal Dilip Sheth and former principal Madhav Pendse have found themselves in a rather embarrassing position, as the Information Commissioner has slapped a fine of Rs 12,500 each on them for not providing information sought through an RTI application by a physics teacher of the college.
RTI ACTION: SP College Principal Dilip Sheth |
The verdict was given by a bench of State Information Commissioner Office after an RTI application was filed by physics teacher Dinesh Suryavanshi.
Suryavanshi added that neither Sheth nor Pendse gave a written reply in spite of the Information Commission looking into the issue. A last reminder was sent to Sheth and Pendse when Suryavanshi made another complaint with the commission on August 26. The commission's order specified the fine amount should be deducted from Sheth's salaryu00a0 and Pendse's pension.
The Other Side |
SP College Principal Dilip Sheth said, "It is true that we did not reply to the Information Commission on time. There is really no formal recording of the speech of Dr Pendse made on August 15 2008 on the college campus. We did not agree with the allegation made by Suryavanshi about making derogatory remarks on a schedule caste in the speech. We are planning to go to the court if required." |
