After exiting the bank, Kishore took his bike and rode a few yards when he noticed some dirt on his shirt. He parked his bike in front of the police station, when an unidentified youth aged around 25 approached him offering help.

Unconscious

The Hindi speaking youth told Kishore that his shirt was soiled and offered him a glass of water to wash the dirt away. Kishore suddenly felt giddy and fell to the ground as soon as he held the glass of water.

"I sensed something was wrong and by the time I realized it was a con, I had lost consciousness," Kishore told the police in his complaint.

When Kishore regained consciousness, he noticed a crowd of curious onlookers gathered around him. He then looked for his leather bag containing the cash and found that it was gone. A few onlookers told Kishore that the youth sped away on a Suzuki Samurai bike with the bag as soon as Kishore fell to the ground.

The Ashok Nagar police suspect that the youth might have used some form of chloroform to drug Kishore.

"We have asked for the CCTV images from the bank to identify the accused," the police said.

They are back

Conmen who have used similar modus operandi are back after a short gap. The joint-commissioner of police has instructed banks and commercial establishments to install CCTV cameras to help police crack such cases. They were also directed to upgrade their security to keep an eye on suspicious elements moving in and around the banks. However, since the incident occurred right opposite the police station, it has thrown a virtual challenge for the keepers of the law.
