Gang of three with businessman's blood on their hands head for temple
They allegedly killed a man, ran away to Kerala and have now mixed with the thousands on their way to the Sabrimala temple, a practice that police sources said is not uncommon among gang members who want to escape detection as well as 'wash away' the sin of murder.
The police have launched a manhunt around the famous Kerala temple for the three members of an 11-strong gang after the murder of Venugopal (28) at Illiyasnagar on December 1 over a land dispute.
Property dispute
Venugopal's father Seenappa and gang member Narayanappa were at loggerheads over site number 38 at Ramakrishnanagar. The case is pending in court.
"Narayanappa and his son Mohan would often visit Venugopal's house and create problems. Some days ago, Narayanappa and his gang burst crackers near Venugopal's Ramakrishnanagar home," said a police officer on condition of anonymity. "When Venugopal's wife objected,u00a0 father and son told her they would kill a member of her family if any one came in their way."
The threat was soon carried out. The officer said Narayanappa's gang killed Venugopal while he was on his way back home.
The Kumaraswamy police arrested eight people for the murder in 12 hours. They were Shivappa alias Basavegowda (25), Sharavan (25), Santosh (24), Santosh Kumar (26), Manja (24), Ganesh alias A Venkatesh
