Due to economic crisis, business of florists across the city has been severely affected during this season of love

Owing to the ongoing economic slowdown and the fear of being attacked by right wing organisations on Valentine's Day, business of florists across the city has been affected severely.

And much to their despair, the recession has affected the exports as flower prices have dropped drastically.

"We hardly have any business this year. Also, there hasn't been any advance booking for bouquets as of yet," said Vijay Abnave, a florist.

He added that they bring flowers as per the order and the best they can do is purchase fewer flowers this year to avoid loses.u00a0

"The meltdown has affected flower prices. Last year, the price of a stem started from Rs 12 and went on till Rs 16 but this year, the price starts at Rs eight," said Shivaji Bhegde, a flower exporter.
