The police have reportedly registered an offence against Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha elections 2024 candidate Chandrahar Patil for allegedly holding a 'padayatra' (foot march) without permission in Sangli district of Maharashtra, an official said on Friday, reported the PTI.

According to the PTI, a case under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act has been registered against Chandrahar Patil and three organisers, the official said.

Chandrahar Patil and his party workers allegedly held a 'padayatra' and paid door-to-door visits in Khatao and Bedag villages in Miraj area of Sangli district in Maharashtra on April 25, without obtaining permission from the assistant returning officer (ARO), thus violating the model code of conduct, he said, according to the PTI.

Chandrahar Patil, a wrestler and two-time winner of Maharashtra Kesari, is pitted against the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) sitting MP, Sanjay Kaka Patil, in the Sangli Lok Sabha seat, which will go to polls on May 7 in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Through the INDIA government, Uddhav Thackeray said that they will not only waive farm loans but also revise the conditions concerning crop insurance.

He said agricultural equipment and seeds will be made free of GST (Goods and Services Tax).
