Manipur: CM Biren Singh inspects ground situation at Imphal's Ima market

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inspected the situation on the ground at Ima Market in Imphal and nearby areas along with his Cabinet Ministers after a flood hit the state severly. It was after he held a meeting with his ministers, MLAs, chief secretary and security officials.

Heavy rainfall, triggered by cyclone, caused flooding in several parts of Manipur, which included Imphal where two rivers have inundated several nearby areas.


Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inspected the situation on the ground at Ima Market in Imphal and nearby areas along with his Cabinet Ministers after a flood hit the state severly. It was after he held a meeting with his ministers, MLAs, chief secretary and security officials.


CM Biren Singh said, "Inspected the situation on the ground at Ima Market and nearby areas along with my cabinet colleagues and MLAs," in a post on 'X' in the early hours of Friday.


"All possible measures are being taken to control the flooding in these areas," said CM Biren Singh sharing a video of his on ground inspection. CM Biren Singh was walking through the flooded streets along with his colleagues and taking stock of the situation, as seen in the Video.

Earlier on Thursday, the Chief Minister chaired a meeting with ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, security officials, and all department officials to review the flood situation in the state.

Manipur Chief Minister Biren N Singh said "Chaired a meeting with ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, security officials, and all department officials to review the flood situation in the state while assessing the ongoing measures to provide necessary aid & assistance to the affected families," in a post shared on his X account.

Adding in the post CM Biren Singh updated about sealing 17 out of 18 spots where the breach occurred in the embankments of rivers, and the flooding in the surrounding areas being successfully brought under control. "The efforts to seal the remaining breach and the work to reinforce the embankments are underway," he adds further.

Manipur Chief Minister said that rescue operations are being carried out by the NDRF, Indian Army, and Assam Rifles, along with local authorities, and saving people from various flood-hit areas of the state.

To aid the state government in the rescue operations, as many as 40 NRDF personnel and 6 additional motorboats have also arrived in Imphal, he added.
