Maneka Gandhi, the wife of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi was reportedly keen on contesting from her husband's seat Amethi after his death. In 1984, she contested from the seat against Rajiv Gandhi in 1984. However, she lost by a huge margin and ended up losing her deposit."When Maneka Gandhi contested against the Gandhi family from here (Amethi)...a young widow with a young child...literally she is stripped, she is assaulted. And the message goes in the region, that if we didn't leave her, how will we spare you?" Irani said. "This whole subset, that is so enamoured by the giggling Gandhis, they don't realize the muck, violence, torture, they are capable of. Beneath that sheen, is so much of dirt," she added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 09 took an elephant ride at the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. PM Modi in Assam is on a two-day visit to the state. Earlier, on Friday, PM Modi held a roadshow in Kaziranga, with locals turning out in numbers to give him a grand reception. Cultural events were performed as part of the rousing welcome to PM Modi. Considered Assam's crown jewel, the Kaziranga National Park is home to the largest habitat of rhinos, over 600 species of birds, a thriving population of dolphins and one of the highest densities of tigers.

Crime series 'Poacher' is all set to stream on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video from February 23. Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, it stars Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. In a media interaction, Richie Mehta said, “It is literally about wildlife crime fighters in India. People who are basically motivated to do everything they can in their power and more to save what they believe as a planet.” While being asked about his performance in the film, DEV D actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya replied, “Acting also should be like a living being.
