Lee speaks to Deakin University vice chancellor Sally Walker
Concerned about the recent attacks on Indian students in Australia, tearaway pacer Brett Lee has spoken to the authority of the Deakin university, of which he is the ambassador, to ensure safety of the Indians studying in the institution.
Lee spoke to vice-chancellor Sally Walker after the recent attacks, which the students allege are racially motivated.
"I have spoken to Sally about this issue of student safety and her concerns for the welfare of the students who have come to Deakin from India," the 32-year-old pacer said.
"The University is doing everything it can to ensure the safety of students. Deakin will be providing advice on how to keep out of harms ways, and also counseling for anyone who feels unsure at this time," he added.
Anger is mounting in the Indian community after a spate of attacks on students, which the police has refused to acknowledge as racist. A peace march was organised yesterday to protest the attacks and there were allegations of police acting too tough on the protesters.
