Come to London at my cost, Lalit Modi tell ED

Former India Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi has invited Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials to London to probe him for alleged financial irregularities.

"I am not in a position to appear before their officials in India because of a serious threat to my life and safety," the former BCCI vice-president said in a statement yesterday.

"To completely obviate any suggestion of my avoiding questioning, I am even willing to have the concerned officers of the Enforcement Directorate, flown in to London, at my cost, and appear before them and answer any questions that they may wish to put to me.

"I am willing to answer all questions/requisitions that the Enforcement Directorate may desire me to answer, either orally or in writing.

"I reiterate my willingness to answer questions by a video link or even by attending the Indian embassy at London," he said.

MiD DAY has learnt that Modi's camp is confident about replying to the show cause notice issued by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) before the end of the month. Not replying to the notice could lead to the revocation of Modi's passport.
