Happy to strike form ahead of semis: Sehwag

Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag today said he was relieved to have struck form with a match-winning fifty in the inconsequential game against Mumbai Indians as a good opening will be crucial in the Indian Premier League semi-finals tomorrow.

"I am pretty happy with my performance. It's nice to have scored a fifty. I am looking forward to the semi-finals now. Being back in form is good for the team as openers doing well is very important," said Sehwag after the four-wicket win over Mumbai, already out of contention.

The swashbuckling right-hander, who was named Man of the Match for his 27-ball 50, said a few players were rested from today's match to ensure that everybody in the squad gets a game.

"I gave everybody a chance to play in the IPL. We rested a few key players today," he said.

Losing skipper Sachin Tendulkar blamed the loss on poor bowling and promised to come back as a better team next year.

"We batted well but the bowling was not up to the mark today. Our bowling has been good through out the tournament and one off day is OK. I wouldn't blame them too much.

"We will work towards a better performance next year," he added.
