I'm not a soft coach, says Wright

Former India coach John Wright has revealed that he is in talks with Kolkata Knight Riders who are on the look out for a coach.

"Yes, they have been talking to me. Let's see how it goes," he told The Hindu newspaper. If Wright gets the job, he will work with Sourav Ganguly again, a man with whom he enjoyed a fair degree of success. The Wright-Ganguly combine was instrumental in India reaching the final of the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. The year before that, India won the NatWest Series in England. Wright was also coach when India won the 2003-04 series in Pakistan. Wright is in Chennai to oversee the progress of the New Zealand 'A' team which is participating in the Buchi Babu tournament.

Being genial by nature, the Kiwi gave the impression that he was a soft coach. "I was never a 'soft' coach. I used to push the players hard during the practice sessions," he argued.
