Au00a0few days after becoming a Bradman honouree along with Sunil Gavaskar, former Australian wicket keeper Adam Gilchrist received another significant accolade ufffd getting picked as wicketkeeper of Cricinfo'su00a0 all-time World XI.
"It's a tremendous honour. There are some amazing names in there. It's a very tough exercise to pick an all-time XI from the history of world cricket. Any number of players could have come into this list," said Gilchrist.
Not only is Sachin Tendulkar the only Indian in the XI, he is also the solitary current player in the dream XI.
"Sachin continues to play in the similar mode. He has stood the test of time, eras and generations. For 21 years, he has been playing high-level cricket. He will not only walk in any all-time Test XI, but also any all-time ODI XI and that should be acknowledged as well," said Gilchrist.
Asked what he thought of sharing the same dressing room with Sir Don and Sobers, Gilchrist was pragmatic to say the least!
Gilchrist was delighted to hear that people remember him for his entertaining brand of cricket. "You never start playing the game in terms of thinking on those lines (like dreaming of being picked in an all-time XI). I don't think any player can ever do that. I was fortunate to have played not only for Australia but also in an era which was incredibly successful.
"A number of guys could walk in many an all-time great XI as Shane Warne has done in this case. It's fantastic to be there," said Gilchrist.
