Sanya Runwal's 18th minute strike handed Scottish a hard-earned win. The win was doubly sweet as they had earlier lost to Dhirubhai Ambani 1-2 in the league stages of the tournament. The Mahim team were without the services of their star player Lienne Almeida down with chicken pox as a result of which they started under pressure with the Ambani school taking charge of the proceedings. However, Sanya's goal put them in control even as they held on to their solitary goal advantage.

"We seriously missed Lienne today. It is because of her that we were able to reach the final. I feel proud that I was able to contribute to my team's success in my debut year," 11-year-old Sanya told MiD DAY after the win. Scottish coach Adip Kenkre was proud of his wards.u00a0 "This year we had a muchu00a0 better team and I was confident we would do well today," he said.

Meanwhile, Ambani coach Chanchal Singh said he was not disappointed despite the defeat. "It was just not our day today."
