"It was a cross but I got lucky and it went in," said Gurung. Gurung's slice of luck restores some sense of balance for the "unlucky" midfielder. Earlier this year the 26-year-old was loaned by the Pune franchise to Portuguese second division outfit Vitoria de Guimaraes, a stint marred by misfortune.
"I have been very unlucky. I had a chance to play for a Portuguese second division side but first, my visit was delayed due to visa problems. Secondly, I sustained a meniscus tear (injury to the knee) and an ITB release operation that needed me to be in rehab for a month. I didn't even play a match for the club," recounted the winger.
